-
Learn to take up the cross daily and follow Jesus (Lk 9:23)
-
Exhibit godly wisdom in all of life’s decisions
-
Depend on God for strength and courage to live in obedience to Him (Jn 15:1-17)
-
View the whole world and all of human history in the light of God’s plan for humanity (Rom 12:2; Eph 1:3-14)
-
Understand that although they at times fail God they are also forgiven in Christ and increasingly enjoy freedom to live life God’s way (Jn 8:31-32)
-
Keep in step with the Holy Spirit by being saturated with God’s word (2 Tim 3:15-16)
-
Learn to hold apparent paradoxes in tension (We find freedom by becoming Christ’s slaves; We are saved by faith alone but faith without works is dead etc)
-
Give a high priority in life to both individual and corporate worship (Heb 10:25, Rom 12:1-2)
-
Have a growing and dynamic prayer life (1 Thes. 5:17)
-
Be putting God above everything and everyone (Mt 22:37), which works out in healthy bodies not ragged and vital & functioning families not broken (Eph 5:22-6:4)
Disciples are Committed to Each Other, so they will increasingly...
-
Love and care for God’s people, including their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs (Col 3:12-14)
-
Work out problems with other people according to God’s principles (Mt 18:15-20)
-
Exhibit the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23)
-
Learn to submit to people God has put over them (Deut 5:16; Heb 13:17)
-
Realise that the further a particular belief is from the core of the gospel (1 Cor 15:3-5) the greater the possibility of legitimately holding diverse opinions.
Disciples are Committed to Ministry so they will...
-
Learn to exercise their spiritual gift/s in the way of love for the common good (1 Cor 12-14)
-
Become confident enough of God’s work in them to say “Follow me as I follow Christ” (1 Cor 11:1)
-
Have a growing passion to reach lost people with the gospel of Christ in dependance upon the Holy Spirit
